FISHERS (Oct. 27, 2014) – Has Fishers’ creepy clown really put away his clown shoes?

Over the past week, there have been multiple reports of clown sightings in the area. FOX59 viewers sent pictures of the “creepy clown.” Fishers police said Monday that they had identified the individual.

Last week, a viewer said she was driving home when she saw the clown in the Saxony subdivision near 131st Street and Olio Road. The sighting came after one the previous week near 126th Street and Olio Road.

A FOX59 viewer alerted us Sunday afternoon to a  purported note claiming that the clown has retired. Balloons were also seen in a trash can in Zimmer Park with the note, which read:

Announcing the Retirement of the Clown. Hoping my absence will pacify this town. Creepy’s intentions with this whole ruse was to show some spirit and to amuse. Relax, Fishers folks, these balloons are your sign I will leave you in peace—it’s over—I resign.

Creepy

Earlier, Fishers police said they had received complaints about the clown and urged residents to contact authorities if they saw the individual. The clown hasn’t broken any laws as it’s not illegal to walk around in a clown costume.

Monday, Fishers police said they had identified the person masquerading as the clown and determined there was no ill intent. They said the person only intended to celebrate Halloween.

The person has fully cooperated with police. Their identity will not be released since no crime was committed.

Several “creepy clown” sightings were reported in California and appeared to be connected to the Wasco Clown, which started as a social media project. Copycat clowns sprang up in other states, including Florida and New Mexico. Police in Bakersfield, Calif., received reports of clowns carrying machetes or baseball bats.
