INDIANAPOLIS – A family is grieving after their only child is killed in a hit-and-run.
Jack Bussa, 15, was hit and killed early Sunday morning while walking with friends on along Meridian St. near Stop 11.
Wilson St. Pierre funeral director Paul Burton is helping the Bussa family plan Jack’s funeral. He spoke exclusively to FOX59 on behalf of the family.
“It’s going to be a difficult time for them, especially over the next few days. It’s obvious that they dearly loved this young boy.” said Paul Burton.
Bussa was hit and killed around 2 a.m. Sunday.
The city’s weekend curfew for 15 to 17 year olds is 1 a.m. The other teenagers walking with Bussa say they didn’t get a good look at the car or the driver.
“It just compounds the emotion. It’s tragic enough then you add that element of not knowing who did it,” said Burton.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) is investigating and told FOX59 they are still looking for the driver.
As the investigation continues, the Bussa family tries to remember the happier moments.
Jack loved to do tricks on his bike.
“They said he was the life of the party. He was always getting people together,” said Burton.
City-County Councilor Jeff Miller wants to move the weekend curfew up earlier to 11 p.m., which is the same time it is on weekdays.
