ENGLEWOOD, Chicago (Oct. 7, 2014) – An hours long standoff involving Indianapolis triple shooting suspect Daniel Brown ended late Tuesday night.

According to Chicago Police Superintendent Gary McCarthy, SWAT made entry into the residence around 11:30 p.m. without firing any shots.

Upon entry, they apprehended Brown. Additionally, a 42-year-old man was found dead in the apartment according to the Chicago Tribune.

The relationship between the 42-year-old man and Brown is unknown at this time.

The standoff began at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Chicago Police were attempting to apprehend Brown after they tracked him to his sister’s apartment the day after he allegedly shot three people in Indianapolis.

But when police arrived on scene, a male offender began shooting from the window of the residence.

As a result, a Chicago Police Department captain was shot, the bullet grazing his head and then hitting his shoulder.

The captain is in the hospital currently in good condition, and he is expected to survive.

Over 100 Chicago PD units remained at the scene for the duration of the standoff.

All civilians were removed from the area, and no one else was injured.
