GREENWOOD, Ind. (Nov. 6, 2014) — In this web exclusive, FOX59 visits two more restaurants in our Dirty Dining report.

The first, Johnny Carino’s, was fined in September for keeping raw calamari above cooked food: a big potential for contamination that could make consumers sick. Their latest check also found a broken dish machine, as well as mold inside the ice machine.

Despite those notes, though, the manager said he couldn’t talk to FOX59.

“I can take the information for the corporate office,” he said.

He took our card, but we never got a call back. They’ll get another visit from an inspector in the next six months.

FOX59 also visited Yia Yia’s House of Pancakes.

A September check turned up three critical violations, including potentially hazardous food at the wrong temperature and a can opener blade “soiled with black debris.”

The owner spoke to us through a friend, who translated from Greek. He was able to show us a fix for every violation, including the now-clean can opener and a cooler that’s been replaced and runs at the right temperature.

“We need to fix some more stuff, but we try,” he said.

They’ll get another visit from a health inspector soon, and FOX59 will be visiting more restaurants in the coming months, as we continue to check up on yours favorites for Dirty Dining.
