HAMILTON COUNTY (Oct. 20, 2014) – Authorities in Hamilton County announced a pair of arrests in the beating and robbery of a World War II veteran at his Arcadia home.

Hershel “Bud” Moore, 94, was tied up after two people entered his home on Oct. 10. They took money and then ransacked his home, police said. Arrested were Joseph Michael Lowe, 26, Indianapolis, and Justin Wayne Lawson, 27, Cicero. Police took them into custody early Monday morning.

Tips led police to the men, and detectives found items taken during the robbery at a shop in Arcadia.

Lowe is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, residential entry, burglary, theft and criminal mischief. Charges against Lawson include armed robbery, burglary, theft, residential entry, criminal confinement, strangulation, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, battery with injury, intimidation and criminal mischief.

Lawson is being held on $141,000 bond at the Hamilton County Jail; Lowe is being held on $86,000 bond.

Detectives from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office will present their case to the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office for formal charges.
