ANDERSON, Ind. (June 19, 2014)— Authorities in Madison County are investigating a possible tornado touchdown Thursday.

The Madison County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency said deputies with the sheriff’s department and Indiana State Police confirmed a tornado touched ground in the area of State Road 236 between 200E and 300E, rotating southeast just before 3:45 p.m.

Authorities followed the possible tornado as it traveled southeast, exiting Madison County near State Road 38 east of Markleville, Ind.

A tornado warning was issued at 3:45 p.m. for the county, but expired shortly after around 4:15 p.m.

Emergency crews in Madison and nearby counties are responding to incidents involving flood water, downed power lines, power outages and falling trees.  However, officials said they have not received reports of damage to buildings or homes.

The National Weather Service has not yet confirmed the tornado touchdown.
