INDIANAPOLIS (FOX 59) – Detectives are reviewing tips they’ve received after a 15-year-old girl’s body was found behind a home on the southwest side of Indianapolis Sunday.
Authorities believe Dominique Allen was abducted outside her sister’s house on North Mount Street early Sunday morning and taken to an abandoned home off West 10th Street, where detectives believe she was strangled. According to police, Allen’s body was then taken to the backyard of a home located in the 1100 block of Elder Avenue and set on fire.
“It’s scary to think who is doing this,” said Melissa Gray, who lives across the street from the Elder Avenue house with her husband and four children. “Where are they at? Are they going to strike again?
“I walk out my front yard and (that’s) where it happened. I walk out my backyard and (that’s) where her body was and it’s like my kids are scared to death.”
Since Allen’s murder, IMPD added more patrols in the area to make people feel safer, as well as to obtain more information about this case.
“That’s just so sad. I just, I mean, she wasn’t even doing nothing. Like her sister said, she was just being a kid,” Gray’s husband, Jeffery, said.
Authorities believe Allen’s murder was a horrific random act of violence.
“We don’t know if there is a pattern at this point. We don’t have any information to indicate it is a pattern. So, we are kind of going at it with closed eyes, but we’re doing the best we can,” IMPD Sgt. Kendale Adams said.
Sgt. Adams encouraged people to contact police if they have information about this case.
“No matter how small (or) how insufficient it is, we want them to call police,” Sgt. Adams said.
IMPD has not released any new updates.
