INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 22, 2014)– The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting on the northeast side of Indianapolis Monday night.

Police were called to the area of East 38th Street and Station Street shortly before 8:30 p.m.  When they arrived, they found a deceased 15-year-old male.  He was later identified as Ja’Vonne Ellis.

According to the coroner’s office, Ellis died from a gunshot wound to the chest.  Police are investigating his death as a homicide.
