INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Sept. 6, 2014) – Sisters of a murdered teen hope a stack of flyers will bring their family closer to justice. Sunday will mark one week since Dominique Allen’s burned body was found. Police believe the 15-year-old was abducted, strangled and set on fire. They are calling her killing a random act.
Dominique’s Sisters, Mareeka Allen and Shenika Poindexter, passed out flyers in downtown Indianapolis. They hope a tip will lead police to the killer.
“We are not gonna stop until we find whoever this is that did this to our sister,” said Mareeka Allen.
Faith-based group 10 Point Coalition patrolled the neighborhood where the teen was murdered. The group sent 13 people out on Friday night to talk with neighbors and ask for tips.
“We have to be outraged about this and make sure that we don’t allow the person or persons involved to be out there on the street to do harm to someone else,” said Reverend Charles Harrison.
The family has not set a funeral date yet. They are trying to raise money to pay for the burial. An account is set up at PNC Bank under Memorial Fund for Dominique Q. Allen. Sympathy cards or donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 88121 Indianapolis, Indiana 46208.
Investigators are following up on tips and reviewing posts on social media websites. The last big development came when police found the teen’s shoes and purse near the location where she was killed.
Police believe Dominique Allen was abducted Sunday, August 31 around 5 a.m. She was at her sister’s house in 1400 block of North Mount Street. They said her abductor drove Allen to an abandoned house near 10th and Lynn streets and strangled her, before setting her body on fire in the backyard of the Elder Avenue home.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 317-262-TIPS.
