INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (August 28, 2014) – The search for missing 6-week-old Delano Wilson is expanding.

Thursday, police and fire crews searched a wooded area near Oliver and Harding streets, close to where the infant disappeared.

The Indianapolis Fire Department also put a search and rescue boat into the White River near Washington Street late Thursday afternoon, and bloodhounds were seen searching the bank earlier in the day. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Sgt. Kendale Adams says the search grid is continuing to move west and will resume early Friday morning.

Investigators also spent Thursday interviewing neighbors and comparing their stories to that of the infant’s father, Willie Wilson, who claims a man and woman tried to rob him at gunpoint before hitting him and taking off with the baby in a blue Taurus. Wilson says the abduction happened just after noon Wednesday in an alley in the 1400 block of Henry Street, near the family’s home on Chase Street.

“I can tell you that we will investigate the claims because a child is involved,” says Sgt. Adams. “Do we have some concerns? certainly.”

Meanwhile, Delano’s great aunt says the family would like privacy during this difficult time.

“I really don’t care what they believe,” says Lethrice Hamilton.  “I really don’t care what they say, because at the end of the day we have God and we have our faith. We know through God we will get him back. So they can keep their opinions. It doesn’t really matter. They have the right to their opinions and that’s fair, but at the end of the day, this is our baby and that’s all we care about. We just want our baby back.”

Hamilton also has a strong message for whoever may have taken young Delano.

“If you have our baby, please understand that we love him with all of our heart and we would do anything to get him back. You don’t even have to show your face. Drop him off at a church. Take him to a fire station. Make an anonymous call where you left him, but give us our baby back. They are hurting entirely too much for this. They want him back. We want him back, and we want him back now.”

Wednesday, police released the full audio from Willie Wilson’s 911 call.  Listen below:
