(Sept. 8, 2014) – The Baltimore Ravens have released running back Ray Rice.
The announcement comes after new video surfaced in the domestic violence case involving Rice.

The NFL has also suspended the running back indefinitely.
TMZ Sports obtained the raw footage from the incident. Before the video was released, the general public had seen only footage of the aftermath that showed Rice dragging his fiancée out of the elevator.
The incident took place Feb. 15 at the Revel Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City when Rice and fiancée (now wife) Janay Palmer got into an argument.
The new footage shows the two arguing inside the elevator. After both exchange blows, Rice strikes her with his left hand. Her head slams against the rail, knocking her out. Rice then drags her out of the elevator.

Rice was given a two-game suspension for the domestic violence case, a punishment that resulted in a very public backlash against the NFL. Commissioner Roger Goodell later admitted he’d gotten the punishment wrong and outlined a new, tougher domestic violence policy for the league.
A source told TMZ that the NFL saw the footage before handing down Rice’s suspension. The NFL responded Monday morning by saying it had NOT seen the footage before suspending Rice:
“We requested from law enforcement any and all information about the incident, including the video from inside the elevator. That video was not made available to us and no one in our office has seen it until today.”
