INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 23, 2014) – Police have not been able to identify a man found dead in an alley on the city’s near northwest side Wednesday morning.
Indianapolis Metropolitan police officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of West 34th Street on a report of shots fired around 12:30 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found the man bound in the alley south of West 34th street. EMS officials declared him dead at the scene. Late Monday morning, investigators said they were unable to identify the man, who’s described as a white male in his 40s with brownish gray hair. He’s about 5’11” and 138 pounds and has no tattoos or scars. He was wearing a green Gap sweatshirt and black shorts with gray pinstripes, police said.
Police said the man died from a gunshot. They have no motive for the killing.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence. Witnesses recalled observing a “Street Racer” type vehicle fleeing this location prior to the arrival of police.
