INDIANAPOLIS – Members of a little league are upset after they were alerted their concession stand caught on fire.
The fire happened two weeks ago. Christian Park Little League members want to know how someone got inside the building. The concession stand is located off East Pleasant Run Parkway South Drive.
“We thought it was just an electrical fire and when we go into it they noticed items missing,” Team Mom Sandy Trusty said.
Members said they were missing cash and food.
“It’s sad that’s all these kids have, you know. There are nights that this is…our dinner because we’re here many hours,” Ingrid Breidenbach said.
Breidenbach said her two children play for the league and are upset about the incident. The season is over, but the league would like to rebuild soon. Their new season begins in the spring.
“It takes a lot of money away from the park that goes toward the fields and the equipment and all of our coaches and everybody are volunteers,” board member Niki Seeman said.
The Christian Park Little League will host a fundraising event July 26 at the park.
“It’s unfortunate because this park means a lot to these kids,” Seeman said.
FOX59 contacted the Indianapolis Fire Department. We are waiting to hear back from IFD regarding their investigation and what they believe happened to the concession stand.
Indy Parks said the league is responsible for the contents of the building and that they are responsible for the building. They also said everything is up in the air due to funding.
