We have seen a perfect forecast for the Easter holiday. Temperatures had already hit the 70 degree mark by 2 PM and conditions will remain comfortable throughout the evening hours. To the left is a break down between 4 and 8 PM of what to expect here in central Indiana.
TONIGHT:
The overnight hours remain mild and quiet here in the state. We are going to see a few more clouds rolling in ahead of our next chance for precipitation tonight. Skies will become partly cloudy by Monday morning. Temperatures will only drop into the mid 50s and winds will be coming in lightly from the south at 3 to 5 mph.
It’s back to work on Monday and the return of more active weather for us. Skies will be partly cloudy in the morning hours and temperatures will be nice and mild. Starting around the noon hour, the chance for isolated showers begins locally. The first area to possibly see rain activity and maybe a few rumbles of thunder would be northwest Indiana. By 2 PM, the chance for rain starts to increase across the western part of the state but this isn’t going to be a wash out. The better window for these spotty showers develops between 4-6 PM on Monday. There is no risk for severe weather on Monday as this latest front passes through the state. But with any chance of thunderstorms, you have to be aware of lightning. Spotty showers and thunderstorms will continue through Monday afternoon and evening in central Indiana.
Even the amount of rain out of this system isn’t too spectacular. The 6 model average comes in with .19″ of rain for Indianapolis. There could be some locally higher reports out of this system if you get a more isolated downpour overhead or thunderstorm. But even with those, we should stay under .5″ of rain total.
TUESDAY:
The chance for rain will linger into Tuesday morning with only isolated showers possible until 8 AM and then this system will likely clear the state. Clouds will decrease on Tuesday and we’ll eventually get back to sunny conditions that afternoon. But temperatures will be a little bit cooler. This is typical behind a cold front but with temperatures expected at 64° on Tuesday, it’s not all that bad. Winds will be coming in from the northwest at 10 to 15 mph.
EXTENDED FORECAST:
Temperatures slip a little bit more on Wednesday as a north wind continues to move in cooler air for central Indiana. Highs on Wednesday come in at 57° for Indianapolis and this will be the coolest day of the work week. But at least we’ll still be able to enjoy mostly sunny skies and light winds. Temperatures rebound on Thursday back to the 70° degree mark. A warm front will lift through the state that day bringing back the warmer air, but also the chance for rain. You can’t rule out some isolated showers on Thursday morning when the front arrives or later that day when the cold front starts to move through too. Thankfully we won’t see an immediate drop in temperatures behind this system. We’ll stay on the warm side of things on Friday with highs around 77° and partly cloudy conditions. But then temperatures start to dip a bit more for the coming weekend. There’s still some uncertainty as to how chilly it will get behind this system, so check back soon for more updates on the coming weekend forecast.
