INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 4, 2015) – Detectives with IMPD are continuing to investigate after a teen was shot and killed on Indy’s east side Sunday.

Police initially responded to a call about person shot in the 2800 block of East New York St. just after 2 p.m. Sunday.

When they arrived on scene, they found a black male suffering from a gunshot wound in an alley. Medics pronounced him dead on the scene.

Police have identified the victim as Steven Kendall, 17, of Indianapolis.

Officers say they located a handgun close to Kendall’s body, but do not know whether it belonged to Kendall or his shooter.

Detectives tell us they do not believe this was a random act, but do not have any suspect information at this time.
