JENNINGS COUNTY, Ind. (April 23, 2014) – A Jennings County man was airlifted to the hospital Tuesday after suffering critical burns to a large area of his body.

Donald Johnson, 85, was burning brush on his farm when his clothing caught on fire. Deputies from the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene in the 200 block of S. Jackson St around 2 p.m.

Due to the severity of Johnson’s burns, deputies and first responders requested an air ambulance.

Johnson was flown from the scene to the Eskenazi Trauma Center at Indianapolis in extremely critical condition.
