COLUMBUS, Ind. (April 20, 2014) — Columbus officials say a plane was involved in an incident at the Columbus Municipal Airport on Sunday.
Officials say the plane was trying to land when the landing gear failed just before 5:30 p.m. Pilot Larry Morlock was trying to land the 1992 Stolp V-star on runway 14 when it happened. He was the only person on the plane, which spun on the runway after it hit.
Airport officials say no one was hurt but police and fire crews were called to the scene. Morlock was getting out of the plane when crews arrived. The plane was significantly damaged, according to Columbus fire officials.
