INDIANAPOLIS (March 10, 2014) – A man accused in a hit-and-run crash that killed an infant appeared in court Monday morning.

A judge ordered Gary Shinnamon, 30, held on a $60,000 bond.

Shinnamon was arrested last week in connection with a Tuesday night crash in which his vehicle rear-ended a car. A 7-month-old baby was ejected and later died from his injuries. It happened near West 38th Street and Guion Road.

Police said Shinnamon, who has a previous arrest for driving while intoxicated, was driving recklessly and speeding before the crash. He left the scene but turned himself in Thursday. He was preliminarily charged with failure to stop at an accident resulting in death and two counts of driving on a suspended license.

Shinnamon’s next court appearance is set for Wednesday.
