INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (June 10, 2015)– A central Indiana group is celebrating after winning a $100,000 grant!
Indianapolis Parks Foundation took home the big prize at the Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis Annual Dinner Tuesday night. The organization was chosen following presentations by each finalist and a live vote by Impact 100 members.
Indianapolis Parks Foundation plants to use the grant money to expand the Indy Urban Acres Flower Farm in order to change the face of hunger in Indianapolis. The mission-driven eight-acre organic farm provides fresh fruits and vegetables to 80,000 people on Indianapolis’ east side who use food pantries to help feed their families. The Impact 100 grant enables the Indianapolis Parks Foundation to expand IUA’s revenue-generating Flower Farm to two acres, and increase food output by 30 percent—to 40,000 pounds per year.
“Impact 100 is honored to support the mission of Indy Urban Acres,” said Karen Holly, president of Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis. “It’s clear that our membership saw the value of providing a program that helps solve hunger in our city.”
This year, Impact 100 celebrated their 10th anniversary in Indianapolis. To date, the organization has awarded more than $1.6 million to local nonprofits.
