INDIANAPOLIS (Dec 25) — An Indianapolis woman is lying in a hospital bed after she was struck by a hit and run driver. The family of Cindy Urich, 47, says she is in critical, but stable condition.
Her family says she suffered some very severe injuries, some internally, and is on a ventilator. They’re hoping if you read this story, you’ll tell police if you know something about it.
“Christmas time is definitely a time you wanna spend with your family, not in an I.C.U. waiting room,” said Luke Baskett, son of Cindy Urich.
On Saturday, Urich was just going about her daily routine.
“She was on her way out to the mailbox to get the mail, she had turned around to come back towards the house and she was hit by a car,” said Baskett. “She was thrown 60 to 75 feet.”
Metro police detectives say the driver left her there, and took off.
“We understand accidents happen, we just want to know what happened. We want to know what, why, why you left, what happened,” Baskett said.
From the way Baskett describes his mother, she really is quite a woman.
“She worked at South Minster Church, she’s involved in the local food pantry at Franklin Township. Thanksgiving she adopted two families and took them shopping at Meijer,” Baskett said.
And the family is saying extra prayers as Urich recovers from some very serious injuries.
Metro police say they’re looking for a 2009 or newer Black Toyota four door. License plate number FW2353. If you’ve seen the car, call IMPD’s Crash Investigations office at (317) 327-6549 or Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).
