INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 25, 2015)— The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is searching for suspects after two people were shot on Indianapolis’ east side Monday evening.

“It looked like she was just dead. She was just lying there,” said neighbor Taveon Foy.

Police said they received multiple calls about shots fired in the 3500 block of Forest Manor Avenue just before 5 p.m. When they arrived to the scene, they located a white SUV that had crashed into the steps of a house. Inside the vehicle, police found two people suffering from gunshot wounds.

“We as parents, we as community leaders are  going to have to take charge,” said neighbor Pastor James D. Allen Sr.

The male driver suffered wounds to the neck and a possible graze wound to the head. He was transported to Eskenazi Health in serious condition. The female passenger was transported to Methodist Hospital in critical condition after suffering a gunshot wound to her side. Her condition was later upgraded to serious.

“The man hopped out of his car trying to help his girlfriend and he was grasping his chest,” said neighbor Foy.

IMPD officers are searching for a dark gray Chevy Impala or mid-2000’s Pontiac Grand Prix in connection with the shootings. They said they believe the driver and passenger of the Impala fired shots into the white SUV, injuring the victims.

“To the people responsible, they have to start looking at themselves. They have to realize who they are and that  life is valuable,” said Pastor Allen Sr.

Police are canvassing the neighborhood in an attempt to get more information from possible witnesses.
