KOKOMO (April 10, 2015) – Police in Kokomo arrested a man they say was intoxicated and texting when his SUV crashed into a police car.

It happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday, when a blue 1999 GMC Yukon going through the parking lot at Kokomo Manor Apartments collided with a parked Chevy Tahoe that belonged to the sheriff’s department. The impact sent the Tahoe into another vehicle. The Yukon continued on its way, hitting another car before stopping.

The driver, Reyshon Holloway, 20, Kokomo, told investigators he’d been texting on his cell phone while behind the wheel. After further investigation, police arrested Holloway on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, possession of marijuana with intent to deal, resisting law enforcement and battery on a police officer. He was also cited for texting while driving and operating a vehicle without financial responsibility.

One officer was hurt during the arrest and was treated and released from an area hospital.
