LAWRENCE, Ind. (Nov. 30, 2014) — A Lawrence woman says her service dogs were stolen right out of her front yard.
Pauline Dillard says her 7- and 10-year-old dogs Deacon and Precious were taken Saturday, less than five minutes after she took them outside. Now, she’s begging for their return.
“My heart is broken because we don’t have our service dogs. They don’t normally service our family, they service the community here,” Dillard said.
Dillard got them from a special police officer from Lawrence. Officer Stacy Hinshaw says she found them dirty and full of fleas in 2012. At the same time, Dillard said she’d been praying for a dog. Hinshaw linked her with both of them and they’d been inseparable until she says they were stolen Saturday morning.
Police spent Sunday following up on leads.
“We even had a couple of youngsters say ‘Well, we found some little foot prints over here’ and we need to go search over here, so we’re looking really hard,” said a Lawrence police officer.
In the meantime, Dillard is just praying she gets them back.
“And that, you know, whoever has the dogs that their hearts will be pricked by the Lord and that they’ll just return them. Just set them free,” Dillard said.
Hinshaw said she would be out Monday to help find the dogs. You can call the Lawrence Police Department or remain anonymous by calling Central Indiana Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477). You can text INDYCS, plus your message, to 274637 (CRIMES).
